| Description of the problem | After gas tank is filled fuel is forced from the top of what appears to be the fuel sending unit below the rear seat. The fuel pools and stains the insulation and bottom of the seat. It causes gas vapors in the car for weeks. Seat and padding have to be pulled and allowed to dry. Excess fuel has to be toweled from the area around the sending unit. Until the tank empties several gallons of gas this procedure has to be repeated. The smell of gasoline in the auto is unforgiveable. I read where this is a problem with many mb's of this type. |
